Itinerary in details:
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau ~ 170 (km)
We ride on motorbikes and head west towards Hoa Binh city where we stop for refreshments and visit Hoa Binh hydro station built in the 1980s. Leaving Hoa Binh, we ride towards Mai Chau valley, about another two hours away to White Thai village. Enjoy the stunning views while lunching on tasty local dishes cooked by the White Thai people. Afternoon we walk /or ride motorbike to the surrounding villages. Our hosts for this evening will be the White Thai minority people. In sampling these peoples hospitality, we find out a little more of their lives and cultures with a cultural exchange following the evening meal.

Day 2: Mai chau to Cuc Phuong National Park (150km)
Established in 1962, Cuc Phuong is the oldest national park in Vietnam. Cuc Phuong boasts engaging cultural and wildlife heritage and enchanting scenery. Magnificent limestone mountains rise up majestically from the green rice-terraces and traditional stilt houses of the Muong hill-tribe. Covered in a dense forest they form a habitat for some of Asia’s rarest species. It is no wonder that researchers, naturalists, enthusiasts and conservationists alike are drawn to this corner of the world.
Day3:Cuc phuong Nationnal park to Vinh (185km)
Say goodbye to the villagers we then head south on a beautiful winding road which follows the banks of the Ma River. After some hours riding on undulating quiet road we join the new Ho Chi Minh Highway. This newly carved route leads us due south, through remote back country , not far from the Laos border. Lunch will be on the way with local foods. In the afternoon we cut eastward towards the coast and stay overnight in the peaceful city of Vinh, which is close to where Ho Chi Minh was born. Dinner in local restaurant and overnight in hotel.
Day 4: Vinh – Huong Khe. (Distance : 160 km )
This morning we head inland towards the Laos border after 40min riding we can reach the birthplace of Ho Chi Minh in Kim Lien Village. The place is truly a shrine to the Vietnamese and visited by few westerners.
After paying respects to Uncle Ho, we head to the HCM Highway via Thanh Chuong District. You cross the Lam River on the Ro Bridge and then drive primarily on the beautiful new highway of Ho Chi Minh. Lunch break in Pho Chau Town, a tiny town about 40km from Thanh Chuong.
After lunch, we continue on the quiet highway to Dong Loc Intersection, (main junction for supply lines during the war) which is widely regarded in Vietnamese eyes as the beginning of Ho Chi Minh Trail. We then pass through renote back country , close to the border , as the scenery steadily becomes dominated by karst limestone rock formations. We will reach our overnight spot, Huong Khe Town, around 5pm. Dinner in local restaurant and overnight in a mini hotel.
Day 5:Huong Khe – Phong Nha – Dong Hoi (Quang Binh). (Distance: 210 km)
Today’s ride is on a very quiet section of the new highway. En route, you will come to Khe Ve Intersection and Pheo – the very first branch of the Ho Chi Minh Trail into Laos.
Continuing on from Pheo, we will arrive in Phong Nha around noon. After lunch in local restaurant, we board a dragon boat to explore the famous Nature World Heritage Site of Phong Nha cave.
After the exploration of Phong Nha, we ride 30km eastward to the costal town of Dong Hoi, our today’s overnight spot. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 6 : Dong Hoi – Dong Ha (Quang Tri). (Distance: 176 km)
Today’s ride is also on the new, quiet highway. Enjoy the nature and get nice many photo from rice fiel .
We’ll be arriving the Dong Ha city at 4:30 and stay at the Hotel
Day 7:Dong Ha to DMZ and Khe sanh(110km)
We ride along the coast from Dong Ha to Cua Tung Beach a long stretch of beautiful and peaceful coastline. Next we visit the Vinh Moc tunnels and explore the Demilitarised Zone, stopping for lunch at the Doc Mieu Firebase.
In the afternoon we will have short stop at Truong Son cemetary to pay respects to the soldiers who fought and died on the trail during the American War.
Continuing west on highway 9, we will climb into the Truong Son foothills, pass the Rock Pile and stop at some villages and beautiful natural springs and waterfalls near the highway.
Approx 5pm we arrive in Khe Sanh which was established as a forward base by General Westmoreland near Laos to secure highway 9. Check in to hotel, free time at night.
Day 8: Khe Sanh via Aluoi to Hue (185km)
After breakfast at a local restaurant we visit Khe Sanh combat base and Ta Con Airbase. Then we head out across the famous Dakrong bridge on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, near the town of Ta Rut we will visit the Pa Co minority people and walk through their village.
Then we ride about 80 km to Aluoi, during this time we cross one of the longest and most stunning passes in Vietnam while travelling on a new and quiet road, through amazing scenery of primitive forests in the imposing Truong son mountain range.
Midday we take a break for a picnic lunch under the shade of a mountain waterfall. Take a dip in the cool waters or simply lay back and relax in the solitude.
We then begin the last stretch of today’s Bike or jeep journey, descending down to Hue. But the adventure isn’t over yet. The landscape continues to change as we make our way to the flatlands, passing through A Shau valley- an area that played a key role during the American war- and then catching glimpses of the iconic Perfume River from the hills. We cruise into Hue’s centre around 4:30 in the afternoon.
